How it all Started

Dot Dot's Little Shop* was conceived over biscuits and tea with my darling husband on one lazy Saturday afternoon in August.

When our adorable Guinevere was born, I had trouble looking for suitable and affordable breastfeeding paraphernalia. This resulted in me feeling shy and thinking twice about breastfeeding in public. I once, attended one of my closest friend's wedding in a reputable hotel in town. When it was time to feed my baby, I could not find any breastfeeding rooms so I ended up breastfeeding in one of the toilet cubicles. It wasn't a pleasant experience, but I suppose my baby was too young to know the difference between eating in a toilet and eating in a proper place. I certainlywould not want to take my meals in a toilet!

Most of the time we hear of mothers being reluctant to breastfeed for fear of public stares and self modesty. We also hear of mothers saying that they are unable to breastfeed because they are unable to produce enough milk. At time this can be in fact true, provided the mother has been medically diagnosed to have abnormal hormonal imbalance (thyroid problems) ,but this condition can be rectified with medical help. There are many myths and concerns raised about breastfeeding and, as a breastfeeding mother, I would like to share my knowledge and experience on this wonderful art to all mothers, mothers-to-be and even fathers in Brunei.

During the past 13.5 months of breastfeeding, I have experienced mastitis, sore, cracked and bleeding nipples, blocked ducts, engorgement, thrush and just about any other discomforts which are commonly associated with breastfeeding. Most of the time, I have healed myself naturally and safely thanks to the knowledge which I have acquired from books and the online websites dedicated to breastfeeding.

My biggest achievement, in terms of support, was when I received a text message from my friend in a neighboring country, asking for my advise on breastfeeding and milk supply during her initial stages of breastfeeding her son. A series of text messages followed over the next few days and now I am happy to say that she is a proud breastfeeding mother after 6 months

Breastfeeding is truly a beautiful art and the bond that is being created between a mother and her child is magical and rewarding. I remember watching my mother breastfeed my youngest brother, and that alone inspired a desire in me to also want to breastfeed my child, knowing that I would be able to do it confidently.

I look forward to every session with Guinevere. Seeing your baby's innocent eyes gazing lovingly at you as her fingers runs through your hair and trails your face and her smile of satisfaction of just being with you is simply priceless!

As you browse through our website, you will find an attractive range of products, accessories and links to other informative sites that should make this special time easier.

I hope you will enjoy our selection of products and at the same time, find the information on our website informative, giving you a deeper understanding on breastfeeding.

Breastfeeding is not obscene, nor is it difficult when you have the knowledge of how to do it and help when it doesn't go to plan. Breastfeeding is a mother nurturing, feeding, & caring for her child. It is a womanly art.

I have always kept in mind that, "a knowledgeable mother; is a strong mother". I believe that breastfeeding is one of the most important things we can do to raise healthy children and contribute towards a healthy planet.

Please contact me if there is anything that I can help you with.
