The Fit of Your HOTmilk Bra

We are continually amazed at the number of women who still wear ill-fitting bras – the statistics are generally in agreement that this is around 80% of women! At HOTmilk Lingerie we put a huge amount of work into ensuring our lingerie fits beautifully which means it is also comfortable and supportive too. The importance of pregnancy and nursing lingerie being both gorgeous and a perfect fit is paramount!

We test our lingerie designs on real pregnant and nursing women. We also wear HOTmilk Lingerie ourselves and are our own best critics! Our very own HOTmilk Bra Technician, Cassie Sweden, has a number of must-do’s for getting properly fitted for your sexy maternity lingerie. Her answers will provide you with some real gems of wisdom!

Q. How many sizes does a pregnant woman usually increase? What part of the pregnancy does this usually occur in?

A. This depends on the woman, it may be two to three cup sizes and two to three band sizes. This generally occurs around three to four  months into the pregnancy.

Q. What effects can being properly fitted have?

A. It is extremely important to be fitted by a professional bra fitting expert. This ensures your new pregnancy and nursing bra will give you a good bust shape, a flattering profile and help with your posture. And because you’re wearing HOTmilk Lingerie, you’ll also feel great about yourself!

Q. What should women look for when buying a maternity bra? What are the features of a good maternity bra?

A. It is important to look for a maternity bra that provides good support as well as flexibility to allow for breast size fluctuation. A good way of checking this is to slide your hand into the upper section of the cup to assess if there is enough room for expansion. HOTmilk  maternity bras have more sets of eye fastenings at the back than other lingerie for extra adjustment. Our maternity clips are easy to use one-handed – you will probably not have both hands free at the time! Our seams and cup linings are cotton and ultra soft, important for comfort and to avoid any irritation of the sensitive nipple area. When designing HOTmilk pregnancy and nursing lingerie, it is of utmost importance to me that women will feel comfortable in each garment, all day long.

Q. How often should pregnant women be fitted for a new maternity bra?

A. At HOTmilk, we recommend this happens as soon as you feel an increase in the size of your bust. This is generally around three to four months. At this time your bra should be fitted on the tightest set of eyes to allow for growth across the back and diaphragm. On average, the expansion of the diaphragm is likely to be approximately one row of eyes per month, however this may vary from woman to woman. All HOTmilk bra styles have six rows of eyes which means the bra should take you right through till the end of your pregnancy.  Depending on the development of your bust, you should be fitted again at approximately seven months, however if you feel your bra is restrictive in any way, have your fitting checked at your local HOTmilk retailer, straight away!

Q. What is your view on underwired maternity bras?

A. No, definitely not! At HOTmilk, we believe underwires restrict the growth and changes in breast size and shape during pregnancy and milk flow during breast feeding, which in turn may cause conditions such as mastitis.

So, now you know HOW to fit your HOTmilk pregnancy and nursing lingerie, why don’t you visit the collections section of our website to choose which lingerie you desire most…
