FAQ about Ring Slings

At what age should I start using a sling with my baby?
You can start using a sling at any time — with a newborn or even with a child up to toddler years her weight is too much for you or your child is no longer interested in being carried.

Why should I choose a ring sling?
Ring slings are wonderful for many reasons. They are simple to use, easily adjustable for your baby’s nap or if you need to nurse your baby. The possibilities are endless.

Can I wash the sling?
Separated washing is recommended for this first time as color may bleed. Do to place your Ring Sling a pillow case before tossing them into the machine. However hand washing is encouraged to protect the hand woven embellishment (for certain designs). Line dry and iron it if you like.

I find that modern carriers hurt my back and shoulders. Is a ring sling comfortable?
Yes. In a ring sling the weight of the child is born by your back, not your neck and shoulders. The overall sling design and high positioning of the child in the sling ensures that the weight is distributed evenly across your whole back. If your back does hurt in a ring sling, you are most likely wearing the sling incorrectly.

Can I nurse in the sling?
Yes. With a little practice, it is very easy to nurse in a sling. The tail of the sling makes a great privacy cover for nursing!

Are slings for women only?
Today ring slings are great for fathers as well as mothers, or for grandparents, babysitters, and other friends. Our slings fit most people and can easily be shared.

My newborn seems to get lost in the fabric, what should I do?
With a tiny newborn, it also helps to place a small, folded-up blanket into the sling under the baby. This helps take up the extra room so that baby does not lost in all that fabric.

Do Mama Patch slings come in different sizes?
All Mama Patch slings are designed to fit all body shapes and sizes since it is adjustable with the rings.

My baby hates the sling. What can I do?
Move! Go for a walk. Clean or  dance! If your baby is still not settled, you can try different carrying positions.
